Ada Yonath obituary

Writer Peter Prince has died aged 84. He won the Somerset Maugham award for Play Things and wrote The Good Father, which became a film starring Anthony Hopkins. Separately, biochemist Ada Yonath has passed away. A Nobel prize winner, Yonath overcame professional derision to map the molecular structure of the ribosome. These tiny factories in living cells synthesise proteins essential for repairing tissues and organs, despite many scientists previously believing her research was a fruitless endeavour.
