England scrum-half Alex Mitchell is ruled out of the Nations Championship opener against Australia this Sunday. The Northampton player suffered a hamstring injury during a Prem match against Gloucester and awaits a scan on Tuesday. Head coach Steve Borthwick has called up Harry Randall from Bristol and Ben Spencer from Bath to the squad. Mitchell, the first-choice No 9, misses the Wallabies clash, which precedes upcoming fixtures against New Zealand and Japan in the November series.
