Breast cancer patients given ‘new sense of hope’ after life-extending drug made available after U-turn

The National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (Nice) has reversed its initial decision to reject Enhertu, making the life-extending drug available for widespread use within the NHS in England. This U-turn provides a new sense of hope for breast cancer patients, as the treatment can extend life by an average of seven months. Enhertu has already been available and prescribed to patients in Scotland for more than two years prior to this English rollout.
