Code cracked for shipwreck padlock solving 400-year-old mystery

A 400-year-old mystery has been solved after the code for a shipwreck padlock was cracked using a CT scan. The brass lock was discovered in the sand near Port Talbot and is part of a treasure hoard from the Ann Francis vessel. This ship was blown off course during a ferocious storm on 28 December 1583. The successful analysis of the lock provides new insights into the historical shipwreck and its associated recovered treasures.
