Kevin Pietersen makes surprise return to England setup as he's named 'specialist mentor' for World Cup build-up

Kevin Pietersen has made a surprise return to the England cricket setup as a specialist mentor for the white-ball teams. Appointed by head coach Brendon McCullum, Pietersen will support the T20 and ODI series against Sri Lanka and winter tours to Australia and South Africa. This marks his first involvement with the senior side since his 2014 sacking. He will provide guidance during the build-up to the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup in late 2027.
