Key to Paul McCartney's childhood home fetches £5k

A brass Yale house key from Paul McCartney's childhood home has sold at Dominic Winter auctioneers for £5,000. This figure is three times the original pre-sale estimate of £2,000-£3,000. The Liverpool council house is significant as the location where the star composed some of the first songs for The Beatles alongside John Lennon. The item fetched a higher price than anticipated during the UK auction, reflecting the historical value of the musician's early years.
