Lib Dem MP launches attempt to topple leader Ed Davey

A Lib Dem MP has launched an attempt to topple leader Ed Davey. This move follows the resignation of Treasury spokesperson Charlie Maynard, which occurred amidst frustrations regarding the centre-left party's sagging poll ratings. Deputy party leader Daisy Cooper stated that the vast majority of MPs support Ed Davey and expressed fury over the distraction. The internal conflict highlights tensions within the party leadership as they navigate declining public support and frontbench resignations during this period.
