Perseid meteor shower live: Watch shooting stars after solar eclipse in 'one of the best nights of year'

The Perseid meteor shower is set to peak in the early hours of Thursday, 13 August 2026, shortly after a solar eclipse captivated millions across the UK. This rare occurrence marks the first time a meteor shower peak has coincided with a solar eclipse on the same day. Described by scientists as one of the best nights of the year, star-gazers can expect to see up to 50 shooting stars as the astronomical events continue.
