SPFL considers landmark move to show every Premiership fixture live as Saturday blackout faces potential end

The SPFL is considering a landmark move to end the Saturday 3pm broadcast blackout starting from the 2029/30 season. By inviting bids to televise every Scottish Premiership fixture live, the league aims to enter a new era of visibility. This initiative is seen as the first step in a coordinated effort across UK leagues to remove the restriction currently imposed by Article 48 of Uefa’s statutes, potentially allowing all matches to be screened live.
