The Conservative Party, led by Kemi Badenoch, has unveiled a sweeping new national security proposal termed 'Britannia Shield'. The initiative aims to implement an 'Iron Dome' style missile defence system designed to protect London and other critical UK infrastructure from aerial threats.
The proposal comes amidst heightened concerns regarding the proliferation of drone technology and the evolving threat landscape posed by state actors, specifically citing risks associated with Russia and Iran. While the Conservatives frame the system as a necessary evolution of UK defence to counter modern missile and drone attacks, the Labour Party has dismissed the pledge, warning that the Conservative Party cannot be trusted to deliver such a complex and costly strategic overhaul.
